Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, Minority Identities in the Arab World (CASAW)

The University of Edinburgh is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Minority Identities in the Arab World, within the Centre for the Advanced Study of the Arab World (CASAW), to begin January 2011. This post is a one-year fixed term contract.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct and present research engaging with aspects of the emergence and development of minority communities in the Arab Middle East from the 19th century to the present day, addressing issues of statelessness and the creation of refugee communities. S/he will contribute to the work of CASAW through undertaking teaching and administrative duties and play a part in promoting the Centre’s existing and upcoming teaching and outreach programmes. The post would be ideal for a recent PhD graduate in the history or politics of the Arab world, or any other relevant discipline.
The ideal post holder will have an established record or potential in achieving excellence in research and publication. A knowledge of Arabic and teaching experience is desirable.
